The event took place around 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, in Wappinger, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
Police responded to the home of Jerry Ford, 44, Wappinger after receiving a request for a welfare check, Hicks said.
Ford apparently became "upset" while being interviewed and went inside his home and came back out with what looked like a rifle and pointed it at officers, he added.
State Police were able to talk Ford into surrendering and place him under arrest.
Following the arrest, the weapon Ford was pointing at officers turned out to be a long-barrelled BB gun, Hicks said.
He was charged with meancing and is due to appear in court on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
During the event, state police were assisted by the Town of Fishkill Police Department, Village of Fishkill Police Department, and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
This investigation is ongoing.
